New York, NY – March 31, 2015 – Recognized for his expertise on the hot button topic of marijuana legalization and the legal conflicts associated with cannabis-related businesses, Sichenzia Ross Friedman Ference LLP’s Marc J. Ross was featured last week in two MainStreet articles on marijuana legalization.
In the first article, titled “Sweeping New Marijuana Reform Bills Introduced in Congress” , Ross weighed in on the recently proposed medical marijuana reform bill, stating that: “federal legislators are finally harmonizing their approach to widespread political will for medical marijuana reform in the U.S. [and] most importantly, [the proposed bill] will take the government out of the doctor/patient relationship.”
MainStreet again interviewed Ross on the topic of marijuana legalization in a second article concerning the Utah DEA’s recent health warning about the dangers of rabbits and small animals getting ”stoned” when eating cannabis plants grown in Utah. Ross compared the latest DEA warning to the anti-marijuana propaganda efforts of the 1930’s aimed at frightening the public, but implied that Americans view marijuana much differently today:
“Starting in the 1930’s, Harry J. Ainslinger, who later became the first Commissioner of the U.S. Treasury Department’s Federal Bureau of Narcotics, embarked on a fabricated propaganda campaign that vilified marijuana to the public. This campaign described marijuana as causing murder, depravity and insanity. This time, however, I don’t see their tales gaining traction in people’s minds, as it did in the 1930’s.”
